Pace Yourself Physical Therapy

Hi and Welcome!!

I’m Emily, the CEO of Pace Yourself Physical Therapy and the creator of the Pace Yourself Programs! I’m a pelvic floor physical therapist in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and I am incredibly passionate about the work I do. Every day I help people with their pelvic floor health- whether they are dealing with pregnancy & postpartum changes, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, tailbone injuries, pain with intercourse, urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, bladder or bowel dysfunction, diastasis recti, or post-operative problems. Physical Therapists have been treating pelvic floor dysfunction for over 40 years, but most people don’t know that physical therapy can help with these problems.

I interact with patients every day who tell me “I had no idea that this could happen to me!” especially after having a baby. We spend so much time looking at what can happen during pregnancy or delivery but we do not devote nearly as many resources to the changes that can happen, especially to the pelvic floor, after having a baby. If you’d like to know more, check out my What’s Up Down There Workshop! In this workshop, you will learn more about these changes to your body during pregnancy and postpartum. I have included practical tips of how to listen to your body during this time when returning to every day activities, exercise, and sex.

My mission is to fill the knowledge gaps of what a pelvic floor physical therapist can add to your every day function. My vision is to launch a platform to help improve awareness of the musculoskeletal system around pelvic floor dysfunction using the latest evidence and my years of clinical experience. This knowledge will help people to make informed decisions about their bodies to help promote early detection & treatment of their problems so they can be managed as quickly as possible. Do you want more information about working with me in person? Please send me a message!

I have partnered with Alexis Helmrath who runs Fierce Mama Fitness to create a solution for new parents dealing with back and pelvic pain while caring for their child or children! We are excited to announce the launch of Pain Free Postpartum: Care For Your Body While Caring For Your Baby. This self paced program combines 10 short videos that will teach you strategies for how to decrease stress on your body while caring for your baby. It also includes videos covering specific activities that challenge new parents with additional material that you can download. AND on top of all of this information, Alexis has created a 4 week workout program to compliment this information. Each exercise has a specific purpose that is outlined in a short video and a PDF that you can download to help you stay on track. What are you waiting for?

We have two other projects in the works, so sign up for my email list below so you can be the first to know more!!
